Entry Requirements

Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Rehabilitation must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in a health-related field such as nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy or other allied health area.

IELTS (Academic): 6.0 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.0 Writing; TOEFL (Internet): 72 Overall with 18 Speaking, 18 Writing; Pearson PTE Academic: 50 Overall with 50 Speaking, 50 Writing; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE): B2

Course Details

The course aims to enable individuals from any health professional background to deepen their knowledge base and skills in selected areas of rehabilitation practice.

This course will allow students to undertake a general studies option or select a specialty stream in either the pulmonary, neurological or psychosocial aspects of clinical rehabilitation.

A clinical practice stream is also offered.

Specifically, the course aims to:

  • review the principles and practice of clinical rehabilitation and apply these to contemporary practice
  • model a team approach to problem solving, assessment, intervention and management within rehabilitation
  • enable practitioners to analyse and apply evidence-based practice in rehabilitation
  • provide an opportunity for students to focus their study on an area relevant to practice in their professional workplace or a specific field of interest.

Learning outcomes

Students can expect to graduate with the:

  • ability to describe and apply the principles, processes and practice of clinical rehabilitation
  • ability to describe and apply teamwork principles and concepts in clinical rehabilitation
  • skills to plan, implement and evaluate rehabilitation plans in a client-centred framework for people with a variety of conditions that present in the clinical rehabilitation setting
  • ability to appraise a rehabilitation program or service
  • ability to describe and critique the assessment and management of a variety of conditions that present in the clinical rehabilitation setting
  • ability to identify, critically analyse and apply evidence for rehabilitation approaches and techniques.
