Course Details

Develop an understanding of the impact of sport and physical activity in the context of a healthy lifestyle. This degree sets the foundations for you to become an effective professional in sport and physical activity careers, giving you a wide knowledge base in areas including health, tourism, nutrition, disability and business.

What you will study

First year

A typical first year may include:

  • an introduction to sport and physical activity, and sport in society
  • an introduction to international tourism management and topics in marketing principles, event design and practice, and interpretive tour guiding
  • studies in academic and professional communication; sociocultural constructions of movement in physical education; and nutrition, physical activity and health

Second year

A typical second year may include:

  • studies in the psychology of sport participation and performance, health promotion for health professionals, exercise physiology, and health project management
  • option topics in areas of business, tourism, nutrition and disability

Third year

A typical third year may include:

  • an industry placement field project
  • study in applied exercise science, nutrition for sports performance, skill acquisition and biomechanics, sport coaching, and management and administration
  • option topics in areas of business, tourism, nutrition and disability

Your career

The Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Activity will prepare graduates for a career in the sport development, sport coaching, leisure, health, sport and event management industries, and provide a pathway to further studies in physical education teaching through the Master of Teaching courses.
