Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing + Home and Community)

Entry Requirements

A current and valid National Police Check (dated within 12 months) is a mandatory requirement for this course. All applicants are advised that they will be required to produce an acceptable NPC on or prior to commencement of the course.

If you currently hold a Department of Communities & Social Inclusion (DCSI) Screening Check for working in the Aged Care Sector and with Vulnerable People please talk with our Admissions team about requirements for screening checks.

Please note that the outcome of any screening check may affect industry placement opportunities, and that this is at the discretion of host facilities.

You will also need to sign a declaration stating that you are physically fit to carry out the duties of a Care Worker.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 5.5 Academic (min 5.0 in any band). Some programs require a score of 6.0 (overall band score) or higher; TOEFL (IBT): 60 (with Reading and Writing not less than 18); Cambridge English (CAE & CPE): 169 (with no band below 162); PTE (Pearson Test of English): 50 (with Reading and Writing communicative scores not below 50); High School: Successful completion of the last 2 years of high/ secondary school, where the language of instruction was English; Malaysian SPM 1119 English: A –; OET (Occupational English Test): Pass C, D.

Course Details

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing + Home and Community) offers students a holistic approach to caring for the aged. Successful completion of the Certificate III in Individual Support CHC33015 qualifies graduates to work as Personal Care Workers in the Community Services and Residential Aged Care Sector. This qualification offers an entry pathway into the Diploma of Nursing HLT54115 and Diploma of Community Services CHC52015 courses.

Industry Experience

This course includes 240 hours of industry placement in an approved aged care (or equivalent) facility setting. The placement is included as part of the course duration.

Please note that industry placement is a compulsory part of this course. Placement offers are subject to supply and may affect course duration.

CONTENT

A wide variety of content is covered in the Certificate and includes providing individualised support, providing personal care, dementia care, palliative care, orientation to the aged care work industry and much more.
