EQUALS requires the following minimum entry requirements to be met in order to be considered for admission to the Diploma of Nursing:
– Successful completion of a minimum of Year 12 or its equivalent; and/or
– Successful completion of a Certificate III or higher qualification; and/or
– Mature Age Entry (18 years or over at the time of application)
IELTS (International English Language Testing System):
a) the IELTS (academic module) with a minimum overall score of 7 and a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
b) the OET with a minimum score of B in each of the four components (listening, reading writing and speaking).
c) the PTE Academic with a minimum overall score of 65 and a minimum score of 65 in each of the four communicative skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
d) the TOEFL iBT with a minimum total score of 94 and the following minimum score in each section of the test:
24 for listening,
24 for reading,
27 for writing, and
23 for speaking.
Students enjoy a supportive learning environment where care and attention are given to their individual needs. Credit for previous nursing/health experience may apply.
The EN works with the registered nurse (RN) as part of the health care team and demonstrates competence in the provision of person-centred care. Core practice generally requires the EN to work under the direct or indirect supervision of the RN. At all times, the EN retains responsibility for his/her actions and remains accountable in providing delegated nursing care.
Graduates benefit from quality employment pathways and/or may build onto their Diploma by continuing onto undergraduate university studies at any number of Australian universities. This Diploma program will provide 12 months credit off most undergraduate nursing degrees (subject to approval).
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
400 hours of approved Professional Practice Placement. Part time available by approval.
Placement Requirements:
All students will be required to wear an EQUALS uniform or the appropriate uniform required by the workplace.
Professional Practice Placements are hosted through a variety of metropolitan and country health services across both private and public sectors. Professional Practice Placements are allocated to students in advance and are not able to be changed or altered by the student once a placement is offered. Students fortunate enough to be provided with country placements will be provided with additional information regarding travel and accommodation through their Moodle.
